Originally conceived as an online parody series, Langerland progressed to the national airwaves on RTE where it soon caused more disgust with its irreverant look at the emerging decadence of Celtic Tiger times along with the crumbling authority of such Irish institutions as the Church, the State and pretty much any authority figure at the time who could be potentially ridiculed.
A satirical series that drew its own ridicule it somehow managed to get two series before it was dragged kicking and screaming to the comedy dungeon in RTE. |
The Little Mark Little sketch focuses on the Prime Time and RTE news team that formed the core of the stations political hard hitting programming. Mark Little has gone on to run online news site Storyful. He is not little.
Memory Man looks at a national treasure with a sporting almanac for a brain - Jimmy Magee. We decided to reinterpret him as a quasi social media / mobile 'device' for all those sporting get togethers that often need a statistician within the group to settle that burning question about who did in fact score the goal in the dying minutes of the game. Coddle is an outtake that I worked on that didnt make the final series cut. Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly give a step by step guide to producing one of Dublins best loved/hated culinary delights.
